12-Volt Technician wanted...
to join North America's premier automotive customization studio.
You know your way around both modern and vintage vehicle electrical systems. And you've been doing it for a while, preferably 10 years or more. High-end vehicle experience, both luxury and sportscars/supercars, is mandatory.
You'll work within the context of our unusual business, so you'll be needed for the unique things 'we' do. It's likely your previous experience will differ greatly from Ai's typical-day-to-day. However, as long as you have a solid understanding of all 12-volt working principals, you know your way around a car, you are methodical, careful and a team player, we can train you up from that point. We are not looking for a 12-volt fabricator, per se. You may have great fabrication skills as well, but we specifically want a 12-volt electrician first and foremost.
What you'll be doing:
Fabrication of thoughtful wiring harnesses with a mimicry of the manufacturer's wiring style.
Varied connection types, such as soldered, Molex, Delphi Weather Pac, Deutsche, Hydraulic Crimping.
Sound dampening techniques.
Bracket fabrication along with the installation of a wide-ranging group of components with an OE level of standard.
Using your software-minded technical ability for system tunings, calibrations, updating, settings and programming of a wide array of items.
Eye for detail. High standard. Clean work. Organized. Plays well with others.
You must be able to duplicate Ai Design's standard...care for it, improve upon it, but every day, respect it, and realize that the team follows ONE standard set by its owner, Matt Figliola.
A bit about Matt:
"I was the lead fabricator and in-shop-innovator for the first 15 years of business. I was installing everything in the cars. No project was too small or too large. I'm an owner who started out in the 'install bay' as it is called. I know the struggles of this work as well as you do. As such, the environment here has been crafted around my experience set as that 'staff member.' Who better to lead a team of like-minded technicians? And that's why our core team has been together for a very long time."
About Ai Design:
Ai Design does not install alarms and remote starters, which is what most electrical techs may be used to. You may actually be relieved to not perform those tasks. If so, keep reading.
We think the work environment speaks for itself. If you have any doubts, look us up. You'll find we've created some rather extraordinary vehicles. Most of our clients prefer anonymity, but a few you've probably heard of: We created all of the electronics and performance modifications for Alex Roy's BMW M5, which he used to smash the two-decade old transcontinental driving record. We also customized Ken Block's CLS55 AMG for a SEMA Show debut. The project included Brabus performance mods, a full custom interior, integrated radar detection, and topped off with a matte black exterior finish. The exterior was extremely radical for the day, and we pulled off a finish that would rival the factory's best efforts in later years.
Ai Design is probably the cleanest, most organized shop you'll ever set foot in. We cherish hand craftsmanship while embracing and exploiting the latest technology. In-house 3-D printing and a CNC router give us capabilities only dreamed of a few short years ago.
Excellent compensation, health insurance and 401k plan.
PLUS, no one works on more interesting projects than we do. No one.
A last word:
We might come off as intimidating. We get that. But it does not come from arrogance. It comes from our no-compromise work ethic. We don't cut, corners. We won't deliver a vehicle until it's done. We only know one way to do this work. If you are confident in the quality of your skills and the breadth of your experience, fill out the form below. You might be the exact person we're looking for. But there is only one way to find out.
